Description
Lavender also known as Lavendula. Lavender flower are usually used as culinary herbs or extracted for its essential oil. As an aromatic, it has a sweet fragrance with a taste of lemon or citrus notes. It is used as a spice or condiment in pastas, salads and dressings, and desserts. Their buds and greens are used in teas.
The fragrant, pale purple flowers and flower buds are used in potpourri. Lavender is also used extensively as herbal filler inside sachets used to freshen linens.
Due to its sweet and pleasant notes, Lavenders are extracted into essential oil and the oils has become one of the ingredients in perfume manufacturing. It is often grinded into powder and incorporated into homemade soap bars for its pleasant scent as well. It can be used to replace perfume or essential oils. However, the scent of lavender flower itself will not be as strong as lavender oil extracted out from the flower.
