Lanolin is also called wool or wool grease, is a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals. This lanolin is comes from sheep. Lanolin consists of sterol esters. It is used as lubricants and moisturiser in many products.
Lanolin is used extensively in both personal care products such as cosmetics, and lip products. It is also used as lubricants in preventive coatings, shoe polish and other commercial products.
It is frequently used in protective baby skin treatment and for sore nipples in breastfeeding mothers.
Lanolin is used commercially in many industrial products ranging from rustproof coatings to lubricants.
Lanolin is also commonly seen in lip balm, foot moisturiser. It can be mixed with beeswax, glycerol and carrier oils in balm as application.
