Lavender distillate/hydrosol is produced through steam distillation process of lavender plants. It is commonly seen in cosmetics and personal care ingredients.
Lavender hydrosol can be used on its own by spraying directly to face or skin. It is often used in face mist or face toner. It can be used to replace water in formulation as well.
Lavender flower carries a aromatic clean note, medicinal note to one end and licorice-like on the other end. The lavender hydrosol is green and rich in odor. It has a distinctively smell that reminds of the natural scent of flowering lavender. It is sweeter and less floral than essential oil.
It has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. It is highly recommendable to formulate cosmetic products for the treatment of sensitive and irritated skin with Lavender hydrosol. Linolool compound in lavender hydrosol has insect repellent activity too. It is highly recommendable to be used in insect repellent. It also has synergistic effect with rosemary, citronella and lemongrass.
Lavender hydrosol is good combination with citruses such as bergamot, patchouli, pines, rosemary, orange blossom, and neroli.
