Description
Sodium Bicarbonate is also known as baking soda. It has wide application in bakery. It reacts with acidic components in batters, releasing carbon dioxide, which causes expansion of the batter and forms the characteristic texture and grain in pancakes, cakes, and other baked and fried foods. Acidic compounds that induce this reaction include phosphates, cream of tartar, lemon juice, yogurt, buttermilk, cocoa and vinegar.
In bath bomb application, it is often used to make bath fizzies, as it has water softening, effervescent, and deodorizing properties.
In dry shampoo application, it is gentle on the skin and helps to draw out oil and impurities, leaving the skin feeling clean and smooth.
