Description
Soy wax is made from the hydrogenation process of soybean oil. It contains high proportion of stearic acid and is basically non toxic. The most common application of soy wax is candle making.
Soy candles typically last longer than a paraffin candle of the same size. The reason behind the longevity of soy candles is the slower burning time and cooler burning temperature of the soybean-based wax. Soy wax is also non toxic and it has pleasant characteristic smell of soybean.
However, parrafin wax and palm wax are usually mixed with soy wax in candle making to increase the melting point of the candle so that the texture is harder to be exported to other countries.
Surprisingly, soy wax is also used in hair care and body care products nowadays. It could be used in pomades, beard cream, body lotion, crack heel cream etc. This is because soy wax is safe and not vegetable based. It can be safely applied on skin, leaving skin smooth and soft.
